At Mathis Films, our goal is to bring the look of the movies to your wedding. So, what makes the difference? It all comes down to the process, really. Our goal is to emulate classic Hollywood films by utilizing several old-school techniques like spotlighting, atmosphere, film emulation, sound design, and title cards, to name a few! The result is a wedding film that looks and feels just like a movie.

Soft light, lush greens, warm skin tones—each of our films receives a unique color grade based on the colors you choose to include throughout the day. No two grades are alike, making this a highly personal part of the process.

film emulation

We love the look of film! The magic starts the moment we ingest your footage. Our state-of-the-art film emulation software converts digital footage to film, adding grain, halation, and bloom. These little details help soften the hard lines of digital footage, adding perfect imperfections.

Title cards

This is our favorite part of the process! We like to think of title cards as thesis statements—if we had to sum up your day in one shot, what would it be? What font would we choose? How would the letters be arranged?

Sound design

The way a film looks is only half the experience. The other half is sound, and our sound design is a layered mix of songs you choose and the sounds you heard throughout the day. Speeches, vows, ambience, dialogue, you name it, your film will include all of it! We believe a wedding film should sound like a chorus of familiar voices. If someone cracks a joke or a toast ends on a memorable line, you better believe it's making the wedding film!

Any sounds our microphones fail to capture on the day—namely the little details, like swishing fabric or echoing footsteps—are faithfully recreated in our foley studio.

Film scores

When it comes to music, you get to choose the songs that play. With an extensive library of prerecorded sounds—synths, strings, pads, drums, drones, hits, rhythms, and risers, all recorded on real instruments—we're able to stitch the songs together. The result is a score that is entirely unique to your wedding film.
